Marimbula

Production of several pieces for the documentary project “Marimbula” by director Diana Kuellar, professor at the Universidad del Valle (Cali · Colombia).

Tema : “Maríbula” tells the initiatory trip to Africa of two young men from Palenque de San Basilio in Colombia, a community founded by fugitive African slaves (the so-called “maroons”) in the 16th century and declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the World by the UNESCO in 2008. The trip to Senegal of the two young protagonists, Andris and Gabriel, turns out to be completely opposite to their expectations, and their experience illustrates this beautiful phrase of Fernando Pessoa:

“Travel is the traveler. What we see is not what we see, but what we are.”

Client: this work is a collaboration of iosphera with Making Docs.

Among other pieces are the Website, the poster and the official image of the documentary film, the trailer and two short stories.

Poster of the film, created by Elzine Aristide, with a picturo of Alejo Cock Peláez.
